CHANGELOG
What changed
What changed in each version of A9 Voice, newest first. New builds reach the Dev channel first and move to Stable once they have been tried; see Updates and channels.
0.7.9
- Once Notes is licensed, the Notes ✓ chip by the version in the sidebar is gone: it only shows when something needs you (the trial countdown, a trial that ended, or an amber Notes · check license). Settings › Account now shows the license in green, with a check on the status line and a Licensed badge on the plan card.
0.7.8
- Home keeps counting. Words dictated, Time saved and Dictations come from daily totals that History kept never deletes, so they no longer fall back when old dictations are trimmed, and a change can't equal the total any more. Counting starts from the dictations History still held when you updated; ones deleted earlier can't be recovered.
- A range switch above Home's tiles: 7 days, 30 days or All time (the default), remembered. All time shows "+X last 7 days" under each number; the other two compare with the days before ("▲ 18% vs prior 7 days", or "First week" when there is nothing before). Notes recorded follows the same range.
- Settings › General › Reset counts starts Home's counts again from zero and leaves History alone. Clear all in Transcribe leaves them alone too, and says so.
- Words this week on the Transcribe screen reads the same counts as Home, so the two agree.
0.7.7
- Not part of the meeting. A video, a song or any other sound your PC played during a call can show up as its own speaker. On the note page, ⋯ › Not part of the meeting (or the same button in a line's name box, for one line or everything from that speaker) leaves it out of the transcript, the summary, search and Ask, the people list, exports and what webhooks send. The summary is written again without it, unless you changed it yourself, and then it asks first.
- Undo brings everything back as it was with no new summary request, and Include again in the Excluded group (or on a single line) works any time. The recording is never changed, and a speaker who is left out is never used to learn a voice.
- Regenerate transcript keeps what you left out, by time, and says when a speaker got another number.
0.7.6
- Installers downloaded from a9voice.com now carry a random code in the file name. The app sends it once with the first-launch count, so we know which link a download came from. It isn't tied to you, it is deleted after it is sent (or unsent when Send anonymous usage counts is off), and the file is byte for byte the same installer.
- Settings › Privacy now lists five one-time counts: setup finished, first dictation, first note, Notes trial started and Notes bought. They follow the same switch; a license you already had, or a trial that started before this version, sends nothing.
- The download page says the saved file name ends in a short download code.
0.7.5
- The license agreement now describes how A9 Voice is licensed: Transcribe is free; Notes has a 30-day trial, then a one-time license for up to 3 PCs with every update included.
0.7.4
- If you already used Notes (you have notes, or a meeting app set to start by itself), updating starts your 30-day trial for you, once, so your recordings never silently stop. The Notes page says so with Buy Notes, Enter a license key and Got it. A new install still starts with Try Notes free.
- A9 Voice checks your Notes trial or license every 24 hours while it runs, when it starts, and when a recording starts and the last check is a day old. A refunded or revoked key stops working within a day. A recording in progress is never cut, and offline you keep the same 14 days (trial) or 30 days (key).
- When a check changes your plan you get one line saying so, and Settings › Account shows why. Notes you recorded stay readable, searchable and exportable.
- The 14-day extension shows only while it can email you the code, so there is no offer you can't complete.
0.7.3
- Notes now opens with what it does and one button, Try Notes free for 30 days. The trial starts when you press it, never by itself, and nothing is recorded before that. If a call starts first, a small card asks Start trial or Not now. Notes you already have stay in the list.
- Buy Notes — $49 is now in every place the trial shows: the Account card, the license key box, a slim bar on the Notes page and a small chip by the version. The plan card no longer says "trial" before there is one.
- Buy from the PC you use and Notes unlocks by itself when the payment goes through: no key to copy and paste. The page you land on still shows the key, for a purchase made on another PC.
- The checkout page and the Finish paying in your browser sheet say your card statement will show LINK.COM* ATLAS9 LLC.
0.7.2
- Saving your first Deepgram key asks before it changes Meeting notes. The key window and the setup step show Also use Deepgram for Meeting notes, checked. Uncheck it and the key is saved while Meeting notes stay on the model they use now; check it and your meeting audio goes to Deepgram. Dictation is never changed.
0.7.1
- Ask is its own page in the sidebar, after Notes: a big question box, your filters, the answer with links to the exact moment, and your last 50 questions on the side (kept on this PC only; Clear all removes them). Ask a follow-up carries the answer along for one more question. Ctrl+K keeps its Ask your notes tab, with Open in Ask.
- Quick | Deep | Template sits next to Ask. Quick is the default every time. Deep and a template apply to that one question, then it goes back. Ctrl+Enter asks Deep; Alt+1, 2, 3 pick the segments. Settings › Search › Default answer can make Deep the default.
- Deep finds every meeting a topic came up in: your question is searched several ways, each meeting gives its best passages before any gives more, and the answer lists each item with every dated meeting, ending with what was covered ("Searched 168 notes (Jul 2 – Oct 10) with 4 searches; 7 meetings matched.").
- Times and names in a question ("last Wednesday", "this week", a person's name) become chips above the answer that you can remove. "What did Ana say" reads what Ana said before what was said about her, and a day with nothing says so and shows the nearest days.
0.7.0
- Notes has a 30-day free trial that starts the first time you use it. Transcribe stays free, always. After the trial a new Notes recording needs a license ($49 once, for you on up to 3 of your PCs, with every update); everything you already recorded stays readable, searchable and exportable.
- Settings › Account shows where you are: the days left, Buy Notes — $49, Enter a license key and Deactivate this machine. In the last 5 days of the trial you can get 14 more with your email, once per PC.
- The Notes list says so when the trial is nearly over and when it has ended. The logo on the Account card now lines up with the CURRENT PLAN label.
- The trial keeps its dates when you reinstall on the same PC. The code it uses is a one-way hash of your PC's machine ID; Anonymous usage counts says what is sent.
0.6.13
- Settings › Privacy shows the first 8 characters of this PC's anonymous ID, with a Copy ID button.
- With Send anonymous usage counts on, A9 Voice sends three one-time messages: when you finish setup, make your first dictation and record your first note. Never what you said or recorded. An update does not send any step you had already passed, and with the switch off none are sent.
0.6.12
- Ask your notes has answer templates, like summary templates: Quick answer, Briefing, Latest on…, Who owes what, Decision log, Meeting prep and Exec status. The menu next to the question replaces the Quick and Deep buttons, and the last one you used is kept.
- Questions about "the last ask" or "the latest" now read the newest matching meetings first and lead with the most recent mention and its date, even when an older meeting matches the words better.
- Each template sets how many passages to read, how far back to look, whether the newest come first, and which model answers. Edit them, duplicate them or reset them in Settings › Templates › Ask templates.
- The line under an answer names the template, the model, how many passages were sent and what it cost.
0.6.11
- Settings has one Models page, organized by job: Dictation, Meeting notes, Summaries, Ask: Quick, Ask: Deep and Enhance, each with its model and a Change button. Keys and downloads sit underneath. The old Speech models and Language models links still work.
- The model list comes from your providers (OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Google), so new models such as Claude Haiku 5.5 appear without an update. It is searchable, shows context and price, marks models that are Good for Deep, and shows what a Deep answer costs.
- Ask Quick and Ask Deep each have their own model. A request that is too big for a model is called out as "request too large", not "rate limit", and is skipped before it is sent when it can't fit.
- Meeting notes with an engine that can't tell the other people on a call apart now says so in amber, with a Fix this button.
- Answers no longer show a model's own citation marks such as 【13】; only A9 Voice's citations appear.
- Claude Haiku 5.5 works on Anthropic and OpenRouter: A9 Voice asks it not to think out loud, which used up its whole answer budget, and drops the
temperaturesetting it refuses.
0.6.10
- Settings › Notes › Search now shows what is really in each folder: "13 notes in this folder · 13 already copied into A9". A folder whose notes were all copied no longer reads "0 notes".
- A row says "3 couldn't be read" when files were skipped, with a link to the logs, and "includes Name" when you also added a folder inside it.
- A9 Voice refuses to add the folder that holds your A9 notes (or one inside it), and reads a note once when you add a folder and one of its subfolders.
0.6.9
- Updates no longer stop at "Failed to kill A9 Voice". The installer now waits up to 10 seconds for the running copy to close, ends it if it won't, and if even that fails it says "Restart your PC to finish the update" and leaves the old version working instead of showing an error.
- A9 Voice lets go of the microphone, speakers, shortcuts and windows one step at a time before handing over to the installer, and logs each step, so an update starts faster and a hang names the step it stopped on.
- If an update did not finish, A9 Voice now says so when it starts ("The update to X didn't finish") instead of reporting a restart after an update, and tries it once more when you are not dictating or recording.
- Opening A9 Voice while a stuck copy is still running now ends the stuck copy and starts normally, instead of opening nothing.
0.6.8
- Back-to-back meetings no longer merge into one note or go unrecorded. The Meeting ended card has a new Next meeting button, and the record key does the same during the countdown: the first meeting is saved and the next one starts at once, with under a second of audio missing between them.
- If the call comes back during the countdown, the card asks New meeting or Same meeting (it stays the same meeting after 15 seconds).
- Fixes Stop now, the record key or a discard on an auto-recorded call keeping the next call from being recorded: after the call has ended nothing holds it back any more, and a new call on the microphone always clears the hold.
- New Meeting ended countdown in Settings › Notes › Recording: Off, 5, 10 or 30 seconds (10 as before).
0.6.7
- Fixes the bright outline that stayed on a speaker's chip at the top of the Live window after you named them with Enter. Only the person talking now glows.
- Fixes the This is → box in the Live window being squeezed: the Speakers chips now wrap in full and only the list of people scrolls.
0.6.6
- New Settings › Privacy page with Send anonymous usage counts (on by default) and Reset ID. The update check now carries a random ID, the version, your channel and your Windows version so installs can be counted. Off sends no ID and nothing about your PC. Never audio, text, names or keys. See Anonymous usage counts.
- Download opens a page with one button, who publishes the installer (Atlas9 LLC, built on GitHub), its SHA-256 and links to the GitHub release and a VirusTotal scan. Nothing starts by itself. The page also explains what Windows shows for a new publisher.
- Settings › Account says it plainly: Transcribe is free, always. Notes (meetings, voices, search) will become a one-time purchase later, with 30 days free first, and nothing you have recorded is ever locked away.
0.6.5
- Moved downloads and updates to the Atlas9 organization. No user-facing change.
0.6.4
- Fixes the AI: chip at the top not following the checkmark on Settings › Language models. One pick now sets Enhance, Summaries and Ask together, and the chip changes with it. If you give one job its own model, the chip says +1 override and the page lists that job with a Change link.
- The Live window's bottom bar now says only who is talking: Now: Speaker 4. The person before them is small and grey underneath ("after Marcus"), and the field asks Who's talking? Type a name.
- After you name someone from the bar, it shows Tagged Ana ✓ for a few seconds instead of putting that in the field.
- The group names in the Settings list (Shared, Transcribe, Notes) are blue with more room above, and the plan card in Settings › Account shows the A9 Voice name next to the mark.
0.6.3
- A small ? button on every page, on the note page and on the Live window opens the manual in your browser at the page that explains that screen.
- Manual in the sidebar and Help › Manual in the tray menu open the manual's front page.
0.6.2
- Naming people is the same everywhere now: the note page's Speakers list and a line's name open the Live window's name picker instead of a Windows list.
- Type to narrow the list by first or last name, see who already has a name ("Speaker 4"), add a new person, and use the keyboard: ↑ ↓, Enter, Esc.
- A name another speaker already has asks "Same person?" on the note page too. Not sure changes nothing, and a named speaker has Clear name.
- Settings › Voices Rename and Merge, and the Person filter in Search, use the same picker.
0.6.1
- Fixes 0.6.0 on some graphics cards, where dictation could come out as a string of odd characters or one word repeated. If you ran 0.6.0 with a graphics card, update; nothing else changes about how you use it.
- Every answer from the graphics card is checked before it is used. A bad one is thrown away, the processor does the job again, and A9 Voice tells you once: "Graphics card gave a bad result, used the processor".
- A PC with two graphics cards can use either one. The second card used to show "Graphics card unavailable".
- Integrated graphics show "shared memory" instead of a size, because they borrow the PC's memory. Models that need a graphics card say so in one line instead of trying it.
0.6.0
- Speech on your graphics card (new, optional): Whisper Small, Medium, Large v3 Turbo and Large v3 can run on any DirectX 12 graphics card, which is much faster than the processor on a modern card.
- Settings › Speech models has a Use graphics card switch, a card picker for PCs with two cards, and a one-time download of about 25 MB for graphics-card support.
- If the card has a problem, the job finishes on the processor and A9 Voice tells you once: "Graphics card unavailable, used the processor".
- A model that needs more graphics memory than your card has says so and names a smaller one to use.
0.5.25
- The Live window has a speaker strip: one colored chip per person, with a soft glow on whoever is talking. Click a chip to name that speaker.
- The "Who's this?" field locks onto the speaker you chose when you start typing, so a name can't land on whoever happens to be talking when you press Enter.
- Click a name in the transcript to correct it for just that line or for everything that speaker said. If a name is already used, A9 Voice asks "Same person?" and can merge the two speakers.
- Every naming action has a 10-second Undo.
0.5.24
- Note page: Speakers, Regenerate transcript and Regenerate summary now sit in one right-hand column that stays in view, so they are reachable with any number of speakers.
- "Get your key": every key window opens with a clear Get your key button and a three-step strip (get a key, paste it, test it).
- Recording shows on the taskbar icon as a small pulsing dot (grey while paused); the tray icon gets the same dot.
- The window remembers its size, place and maximized state for each monitor setup.
0.5.23
- Meetings start recording by themselves again when another recording app is merely open: it only holds A9 Voice back while it is really using the microphone.
- When a call is held back, the recording bar says why and offers Record now.
0.5.22
- Playing a note now sounds the same in both ears. A switch beside the player picks Others (the default), Everyone or Me.
- Playing a line or a speaker plays that person's side of the call. Your files keep both channels.
0.5.21
- Settings shows which speech model handles dictation, notes and the fallback, and Language models shows which one writes summaries, Ask answers and Enhance.
- After a call, a name tagged live that clearly sounds like someone else is no longer applied and teaches nothing.
- Voices has a Check voiceprints button that lists voices that sound suspiciously alike. It never deletes anything.
0.5.20
- The minimized recording bar can't get lost: it stays on screen, above other windows, and a click brings the full bar back.
- Every button in the Live window, the tray icon and Ctrl+Alt+B bring the recording bar back from wherever it is.
0.5.19
- Every page fits a window down to 960 × 640, with no sideways scrolling.
- The sidebar shows icons only in narrow windows; you can keep it open. The Settings list becomes a drop-down when space is tight.
0.5.18
- The Live window opens docked directly under the recording bar, moves with it and hides with it. Drag its header to undock it; Dock under bar puts it back.
- The setting is now called Open the Live window when a meeting starts.
0.5.17
- Notes from folders you added to Search can be copied into A9 Voice with Make editable copy, so you can regenerate the summary and fix speakers.
- Copies never teach voices, and the original folder is never changed.
0.5.16
- A new compact recording bar: timer, Pause and Stop at rest; Snip, Live window, microphone, speaker and Minimize on hover.
- Stop asks whether to stop or stop and discard. The minimized bar becomes a small pill that stays where you put it.
0.5.15
- Templates can carry your logo, a header line, an accent color and a footer, which appear on PDF, Word and email exports.
- New exports: Word (.docx) and an HTML email file, plus Copy for email that pastes the summary with its formatting and logo.
- The note's summary.md is never changed by branding.
0.5.14
- The dictation pill and recording bar are no longer clipped on some PCs, and the bar no longer jumps when you hover it.
- Copy diagnostics now includes display details (monitors, scaling), which helps when a window looks wrong.
0.5.13
- A sharper logo and icon, drawn by hand for each size, in the app, tray and installer.
0.5.12
- The "Also search these folders" hint names the folder it found instead of guessing.
- Wording across Search settings is plainer.
0.5.11
- Update checks ask a9voice.com first, with GitHub as a backup, so updates keep arriving if the download location ever moves.
- The copyright line now reads Atlas9 LLC.
0.5.10
- Search, Ask and the connector can include past meetings from folders you add. They are read only: A9 Voice never changes them.
- Ask has Quick and Deep modes; Deep looks at more of your meetings and answers with dates and quotes.
- Summaries and Ask describe what was said and don't label people's feelings or character.
0.5.9
- A note is named after the meeting, read from the call app's window title, and its folder is named
YYYY-MM-DD Meeting name. - "Other notes from this meeting" on the note page links notes from the same recurring meeting; Search and Ask can filter on Same meeting.
- Tidy folder names (Settings › Notes › Storage) renames older folders after showing a preview.
0.5.8
- Every dialog has a visible close button.
- Ask answers show formatting (bold, lists, links) instead of raw symbols.
0.5.7
- The tone when dictation starts now always plays, including on sleepy USB and Bluetooth outputs and during calls.
- Every tone is logged with the device it used, which helps when one is missing.
0.5.6
- The panel under the recording pill uses real buttons, with the microphone and computer audio shown with level meters.
- Stop & discard is set apart and asks before deleting.
0.5.5
- Note playback: each press of a speaker's play button steps to that person's next line, with Space and the arrow keys to control it.
- The "Use for dictation / fallback / notes" boxes on speech models switch on and off properly.
- Show in folder and Open recording open the right place again.
0.5.4
- Your own voice coming back through the speakers is no longer transcribed as another person.
- A call on a different output device is captured fully, and Who's this? works while you are talking.
- Recordings started by hand stop when the call ends. A9 Voice only ever changes folders it created.
0.5.3
- A muted or silent microphone no longer makes dictation hang. The pill says "Mic muted" and offers another microphone if one is unmuted.
- Dictation microphone can be chosen in Settings › Dictation, and the level meter says when the mic is muted.
- A damaged settings file or database is set aside and rebuilt, keeping what could be read, with a notice.
- Hands-free is off by default for new installs. Includes 0.5.2: the connector is easier to set up and the sidebar shows your version and update status.
0.5.1
- New downloads get Stable by default. Dev is an opt-in choice in Settings › General › Updates.
- A copy that happens to be newer than Stable no longer switches itself to Dev.
0.5.0
- Search everything with Ctrl+K: notes, summaries, transcripts, typed notes, image captions, action items and (optionally) your dictations. A click opens the note at that moment.
- Ask your notes a question and get an answer with links to the exact moments, or "I couldn't find that in your notes".
- A connector for AI apps (MCP) lets Claude and ChatGPT search and read your notes. It is read only and off until you turn it on.
